How writing references guide script style without copying another video.

A YouTube writing reference helps VidBlitz understand pacing, structure, and writing style before it writes a new script.

What a Writing Reference Does

A writing reference can guide:

  • Opening hook style.
  • Script pacing.
  • Tone and sentence rhythm.
  • How sections transition.
  • How facts, examples, and suspense are introduced.

It does not give VidBlitz permission to copy protected material, reuse another creator's footage, or duplicate a video.

Add a Reference

  1. Open Create Video.
  2. Open the add input menu.
  3. Choose the YouTube reference option.
  4. Paste a public YouTube URL.
  5. Save the reference and continue creating the project.

Choose a Good Reference

Use a reference that matches the kind of video you want to produce. The best references usually have:

  • Human narration.
  • A clear story structure.
  • Similar pacing to your target channel.
  • A niche close to your planned topic.
  • A style you would want your own video to learn from.

Avoid references that feel robotic, misleading, low-effort, or unrelated to your video.

When the Field Is Unavailable

Writing references are for projects where VidBlitz is writing the script. If you provide a complete custom script or upload a complete custom voiceover, the writing reference is not needed because the narration source is already supplied.

Review the Result

A writing reference is still only guidance. For important videos, use Manual mode so you can review and edit the script before the rest of production continues.
