Use Background Music

How to choose music, set volume, and avoid common audio problems.

Background music is optional, but it can make a finished video feel more polished when it supports the narration.

Music Options

Depending on the project setup, you can choose:

  • No music.
  • A track from the included music library.
  • Your own uploaded music when available.

Use no music for sober topics where silence feels more professional, or when the narration and original clip audio should carry the full video.

Set the Volume

Keep narration clearly dominant. A common starting point is low background volume, then adjust after reviewing the final video.

Music should never make narration hard to understand. If viewers have to strain to hear the voice, lower the music.

Match Music to the Topic

Use slower, restrained tracks for documentaries, serious analysis, history, true crime, finance, and policy topics. Use faster tracks for listicles, entertainment explainers, and energetic videos.

Avoid vocal music behind narration unless you are confident it will not distract from the voiceover.

Uploaded Music

Only upload music you have the right to use. For YouTube, make sure the track is safe for the way you plan to publish and monetize the video.

Uploaded music used in the final timeline can be included with project assets and exports when the export package is generated.

Review After Generation

After the video is ready, listen to several sections before publishing. Check the intro, any quiet sections, A-roll clips, transitions, and ending. If the music feels too loud or repetitive, adjust the audio in the editor and render again.
